Why settle for a generic dating website when you can hone in on what you’re really looking for in our Tattoo Lovers community?
General dating websites force you to weed through all the muck just to get to the gold. With a niche dating website, all the hard work is already done for you. The field is narrowed down to people you may actually have something in common with.
One of these niches is for those who are inked. If you love tattoos, you are not alone! While tattoos are becoming increasingly trendy, it can still be hard to find someone who is truly dedicated to the fine art of body décor.
No matter what your interest is, from tribal, to dragons, to spiritual, to memorial tattoos, there is something for everyone.
In fact, the art of tattooing has been around since ancient times. Popular in Japan, Europe, China, and Samoa, tattoos go back as early as 1045 BC. Tattooing went through a hiatus until it was thought to be re-introduced in Europe in the 17th century. Captain James Cook of England traveled to the South Pacific, where he was introduced to the local people, many of whom were heavily tattooed. The word tattoo actually comes from the Tahitian ‘tatau’ and was introduced to the English language by Cook. Many of the sailors with Cook came back with tattoos, which is why tattoos are often still associated with sailors even today.
Cook later brought back a tattooed man with him to present to the court of King George V. So fascinated with tattoos was King George, that he even got inked himself. His designs of choice? A cross and a dragon. Believe it or not, the rest of European royalty soon followed suit, including Edward VII, King Frederick IX of Denmark, King Alexander of Yugoslavia, and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. Tattooing soon spread among the English upper classes of 19th century like wildfire.
Tattooing a bastion of the upper classes? Who knew! But you didn’t need to know that to know that tattoos are attractive. Hit up that guy or girl with the sexy dragon on their back and surprise them with a visit to an English tea parlor for a fun date and a step back in time.
